LONDON, UK, November 2, 2005. The internationally-acclaimed Cirque du Soleil will bring their breathtaking style and artistry to the 12th World Travel Award (WTA) ceremony on November 13.
The 'Circus of the Sun' has turned entertainment on its head, creating a unique style that has delighted over 50 million spectators in more than 100 cities around the globe. They will now perform a selection of unique acts in front of 500 of the travel industry's top players and the sold-out event will be broadcast by the global media.
"In its 21st year, CIRQUE DU SOLEIL continues to celebrate innovation, excellence and the very best of its profession," says WTA Event Director, Manon Han. "It is fitting that they will perform at the World Travel Awards, which over the last 12 years has come to represent the same for the global travel and tourism trade."
From small beginnings in Quebec in 1984, CIRQUE DU SOLEIL now presents 11 different shows around the world, comprising five resident shows in Las Vegas and Orlando, and six international touring shows.
"A number of factors have contributed to this year's event being fully booked out with a long waiting list: the London location, the unique and historical venue and the fact that the World Travel Mart takes place the day after the awards have all helped attract a guest list of top CEO's of global corporations"
"Cirque du Soleil is proud to be associated with this special event that celebrates and honours excellence in the global tourism industry. We hope that our artistes will contribute to an enjoyable and successful evening on November 13." Shawn Kent, Marketing Director, Cirque du Soleil Europe.
Since its inception in 1993, the World Travel Awards has established itself as an independent industry leader that brings all elements of the travel and tourism trade together to celebrate excellence, as well as recognize the industry's achievements.
The chosen location for next year's World Travel Awards will also be announced on the evening of the awards ceremony.
