Hurricane Wilma Update: Presidente Intercontinental Cancun Resort

. October 14, 2008

MEXICO CITY, November 16, 2005. Presidente InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has now completed a full and accurate assessment of the Presidente InterContinental Cancun Resort following Hurricane Wilma. According to company officials who toured the property on November 16th, the hotel suffered no structural damage. In light of this property assessment, the Presidente InterContinental Cancun is set to reopen on March 1, 2006, following an extensive renovation and enhancement plan that will result in new services and facilities.

While there was no structural damage to the resort, and an original opening date had been tentatively set for mid-December, management of Presidente InterContinental Hotels & Resorts wanted to ensure that the hotel would be 100% operational before reopening. A decision was made to push back the resort's reopening date rather than offer limited amenities and services to guests. Presidente InterContinental Hotels & Resorts will use this construction time to add exciting new facilities to the resort that will further enhance the guest experience.

One of the key new features of the resort will be a deck bar and lounge, as well as a new ballroom, new Lobby, an extended Caribe~no restaurant, a redesigned main pool, plus a complete refurbishment of all the rooms, including new duvets and bedding.

While many beaches in Cancun experienced erosion due to Hurricane Wilma, the Presidente InterContinental Cancun Resort, because of its convenient location, continues to have the largest, longest and widest beach in Cancun.

Alfredo di Roma, the resort's Italian restaurant that reopened on October 29, 2005, was completely untouched by Wilma and was the first restaurant in Cancun to open its doors after the hurricane.

"Presidente InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has decided to reopen the Cancun property after we have completed a total renovation and enhancement of the resort. We are confident that these improvements will result in a vacation experience that is better than ever," emphasized Gordon F. Viberg, CEO of Presidente InterContinental Hotels & Resorts.
