30 Degree Blue Chef Recognized in Good Housekeeping

. October 14, 2008

BAY POINT, Fla. - June 10, 2005 - Renowned for her unique Southern-influenced dishes, Executive Chef Shelley Cooper of 30^0 Blue received recognition for her mouth-watering recipes in the June issue of Good Housekeeping.

Shelley unveiled six of her finest recipes in the "Grill Girls" article featured in the magazine. Her signature recipes included Monte Carlo crusted rib steaks, firecracker shrimp with pineapple, tricolor tomato-basil salad, lemony grilled asparagus, potato packet with blue cheese and, for dessert, buttermilk ice cream with grilled peaches.

"It is an honor to have Shelley Cooper featured in such a highly regarded publication as Good Housekeeping," said Scott Holbrook, Bay Point Marriott Resort's food and beverage director. "Her exceptional culinary skills have attracted customers from all over."

Incorporating Southern ingredients in her chic yet appetizing recipes, Shelley attributes much of her cooking talent to her Mississippi-raised mother and grandmother. Both women inspired her to cook fresh seasonal dishes made with local ingredients, which is evident in the menu items at 30^0 Blue. Whether starting out with the Florida frog legs appetizer or choosing the seared bacon wrapped jumbo scallops with Charleston-style red rice as an entr'ee, patrons are guaranteed to sample a regional dish using the freshest ingredients. Shelley Cooper grew up in Memphis, Tenn., and began her culinary career sharing a kitchen with her mother and grandmother. Later, Shelley graduated with a bachelor's degree from the college of culinary arts at Johnson & Wales University. Shelley joined 30^0 Blue as executive chef in 1999.
