UNWTO Explores PPP Forum
NOVEMBER 20, 200. Public-private-partnerships (PPP's) in tourism are worldwide on the upswing and will become ever more prevalent.
In order to explore the possibilities of PPP's in the context of tourism for development, the UNWTO Affiliate Members will hold a one day Conference during the upcoming The World Tourism Forum for Peace and Sustainable Development (29th November-2nd December, Porto Alegre, Brazil).
The conference "Public Private Partnership for Development through tourism", organized with the Ministry of Tourism of Brazil and to be held on November 30th, will focus on the access to financing resources, implementation of policies to reinforce natural and cultural assets, as well as knowledge management through education and training and information.
This is the third active participation of the UNWTO in Porto Alegre. The Forum aims at developing new concepts and practices for tourism worldwide, which promote social and economic development.
A new approach to development and good governance can help to build a unique forum for the public and private sector, empowering all the key stakeholders in tourism to work towards the Millennium Development Goals.
In support of the UNWTO conference, the three Councils of UNWTO Affiliate Members and the Quality Support and Trade Committee will be meeting on December 1st. UNWTO officials will be at the "Workgroup for Sustainable Tourism on the Global Agenda: from Strategy to Implementation Policy" organised by UNEP, at the "Regional Task Force for the Protection of Children" and at a workshop on "Sustainable Tourism and Childhood (STC)- Six Steps towards Corporate Social Responsibility".
Furthermore, UNWTO Secretary-General Francesco Frangialli will be attending the Meeting of South American Ministries and High Authorities of Tourism on Sustainable Tourism and Childhood organised by the WTF and Ministry of Tourism of Brazil.
