Hilton Said to be Looking for Buyers of Worldwide Assets
LONDON, UK, January 19, 2006. In a report credited to Reuters out of this city, Hilton Hotels Corp. reportedly has held talks with buyout company The Blackstone Group over the sale of some of the hotels it will acquire from Hilton International as part of an earlier announced acquisition of the lodging business of Hilton Group plc.
Under the possible deal, Hilton would sell the property assets but continue to run the hotels under a long-term management contract, the London Times said without citing sources.
It gave no more details of the talks or the value of any deal.
A Hilton spokesman would not comment directly on the report, but said the company was "in talks with lots of people," according to the report.
According to Reuters, Hilton's COO Matthew Hart told them this week that Hilton would look at selling the hotels it got as a result of the acquisition
