Spice Island Redefines Non-Smoking Policy
ST GEORGE'S, Grenada, March 7, 2006. After completing a massive $12 million rebuilding and refurbishment project and re-launching Spice Island Beach Resort as a more elegant, upscale hideaway in Grenada, the resort management has redefined its non-smoking policy to include all enclosed and confined areas.
Starting April 16 2006, the non-smoking policy will include all 64 elegantly-appointed suites and the following designated areas: Oliver's Restaurant, Sea & Surf Bar and Lounge, Residents' Lounge, Reception Lobby, Gatsby Boutique and Janissa's Spa and Fitness Center.
This new policy does not make Spice Island Beach Resort a "non-smoking" resort; smoking will be permitted in the open courtyard, on the pool terrace, bandstand and any other open areas at the resort.
"We want to protect the health of our guests who do not choose to smoke and insure those who do that they are welcome at our resort," said Sir Royston O. Hopkin, KCMG, owner and chairman, Spice Island Beach Resort.
Guests who break the non-smoking rule in any of the accommodations will incur a charge for sanitizing the rooms for the next arriving patrons. Spice Island Beach Resort delivers a Caribbean vacation experience with an unmatched level of accommodations and unprecedented brand of chic style and timeless luxury.
Attention to detail is found in each luxurious suite with contemporary Caribbean d'ecor, large whirlpool, LCD flat panel televisions with cable, Italian Frette bathrobes and linens (some of the softest and smoothest around), DVD and CD players, Molton Brown bath and body amenities, mini-bar, clock radio, hair dryer, air conditioning, ceiling fan, iron and ironing board, direct dial telephone with Internet access, safe, coffee/tea facility, toaster, chaise lounges and patio or balcony.
A property highlight is the luxurious, full-service, 5,600 square foot Janissa's Spa offering manicures and pedicures, massages as well as body polishes and scrubs incorporating local ingredients like nutmeg, seaweed, aloe vera and coconut, a salon for hairstyling, waxing and other services, a sauna, outdoor Jacuzzi, and separate men's and women's lockers. Janissa's Spa features four air-conditioned treatment rooms with exterior rain showers, an outdoor sunken whirlpool bath, an open-air couples massage room, and a relaxation lounge overlooking a tranquil reflection pool.
Within the spa is the fitness center with all new, top-of-the-line equipment including treadmills, stationary bikes and a wide selection of free weights. Other active pursuits include swimming in an attractively-landscaped, centrally-located pool right near the beach (or relaxing in the jacuzzi), snorkeling, kayaking and sailing with Hobie cats. Scuba diving can easily be arranged through the resort's watersports facility, Aquanauts Grenada Ltd.
