Tallman Hotel Set for April Launch
LAKE COUNTY, CA, March 14, 2006. The Tallman Hotel in Upper Lake, CA will make its debut on April 1. It is reportedly Lake County's first and only boutique hotel.
The Tallman, which originally operated as a hotel with an adjoining saloon and stagecoach stop in the late 1800s, has been restored and updated. The project includes new construction of garden cottages along with a recreation of the original Blue Wing Saloon. The Tallman Hotel and Blue Wing Saloon are members of Huntington Beach, CA-based Broughton Hospitality Group (BHG).
Located on historic Main Street in Upper Lake, the hotel was originally built in the 1890s when Upper Lake was frequented by gun-toting cowboys and visitors to the area's many hot springs. Over the years, the hotel went through various name changes and eventually fell into disrepair. The Tallman Hotel was restored using historic photos to capture the original look and feel, according to Larry Broughton, BHG president and founder.
The Tallman features 17 guestrooms, with each designed with Eastlake-style furniture, antique plumbing fixtures, beds with 300 thread-count linens and Molton Brown bath products. The d'ecor includes antiques, custom handcrafted furniture and hand-painted murals. The property offers an executive meeting room accommodating 20, a swimming pool with a hot tub as well as a collection of working gardens that will produce vegetables and flowers for the hotel and restaurant. The hotel's garden suites feature either private balconies or garden patios with Japanese Ofuro soaking tubs.
