Darden Foundation Partners with CHRIE
To suppoert career academy for third staright year
RICHMAND, VA, April 26, 2006. Darden Restaurants, which has more than 1,300 Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Bahama Breeze and Smokey Bones restaurants throughout the United States and Canada, has kept its partnership with International CHRIE for the third consecutive year by providing continued generous support and funding to the I-CHRIE Career Academy.
Darden Restaurants founded the Darden Foundation, which is a philanthropic program that calls on all of their resources, including money, products, and volunteer efforts, to make a difference in the world. They focus on education, social services, nutrition, arts and culture and the preservation of natural resources. In addition, Darden supports the efforts of their employees as well. If an employee supports a cause that they find important and worthy of their time and energy, so does Darden.
The Darden Foundation provides support to many individuals and programs, and International CHRIE is excited to be one of those organizations that has the opportunity to build a relationship and receive continued support.
"We are delighted to be a benefactor for another year of the Darden Foundations efforts to perform good work on behalf of the community," says Kathy McCarty, Executive Vice President and CEO of I-CHRIE. "The International Career Academy is an excellent choice to receive support; I can't think of a more fitting way of 'giving back' than to provide support toward advancements in teaching, relative to endeavors in the hospitality field. This is truly a win/win for both parties, and I'm thrilled to be working together."
The purpose of the I-CHRIE Career Academy is to provide a forum for those members who are interested in new techniques and methods to sharpen their teaching effectiveness in the classroom environment. It will help to empower teachers and learners in the use of instructional technology and allow participants to share ideas regarding curricular issues and trends and give insights into the life of an administrator.
