PATA Rallies To Support Indonesian Tourism
JUNE 1, 2006. PATA sent a message of condolence, support and solidarity to each of its members in Indonesia this week, after an earthquake rocked Central Java.
The Association also created a dedicated page to host news from members and friends in Indonesia. The page is linked from PATA's "Crisis Centre" at www.PATA.org/crisis.
PATA's fears that bookings to Indonesian destinations unaffected by the earthquake may be negatively impacted are being realised with a report from Bali Hilton International that the property has already received cancellations for 48 room nights.
PATA's global network of members and friends are requested to spread the following message: - All Indonesian destinations, except for some parts of Central Java, were unaffected by the earthquake. Please continue with your travel plans. -
PATA President and CEO Mr Peter de Jong said: "It is vital that we try to limit unnecessary cancellations in destinations unaffected by the earthquake - and do our best to encourage a return to normality in worst-hit destinations."
