High-Profile Keynoters Address Hoteliers from Around the World
NEW YORK, NY, July 25, 2006. The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. recently hosted its third international Communications Conference and Media Showcase in New York City. Staged every two years, the conference is designed to help on-property communications executives to improve their pitching and writing skills, while giving them insights into how best to work with key media in specific regions of the world.
Taking place from July 17 to 19, the event opened with a welcome reception in Arabelle at Hotel Plaza Athenee. Business sessions were held over the next two days at The New York Palace Hotel where the attendees from nearly 100 Leading Hotels gathered to hear from such prominent media figures as Peter Greenberg, noted author and travel editor of NBC's Today Show, and Bob Jamieson, business correspondent for ABC News.
The program also included such distinguished journalists as Town & Country's editor-in-chief Pamela Fiori, and features editor of Town & Country TRAVEL Melissa Biggs Bradley; lifestyle consultant Laurin Sydney; Richard Story, editor-in-chief of Departures; Luxury SpaFinder's editor-in-chief Gary Walther; Keith Bellows, editor-in-chief of National Geographic Traveler; Rudy Maxa, host and co-executive producer of the PBS series "Smart Travels with Rudy Maxa;" and Jeff Weinstein, editor-in-chief of HOTELS magazine.
Among the many topics addressed were "Freelancers or Freeloaders: How to Work with the Best," "Kids' Stuff: Capitalizing on the Family Travel Boom," "The Rise of the Regional Magazine," "Cheese and Sleaze: The Star Power of Celebrity Guests," and "Where in the Web Are We? Sussing out the Best of the Media Outlets on the Web."
During the closing reception at The Boathouse in Central Park, Mr. Greenberg commented, "It's always a pleasure to have the opportunity to engage with the communications professionals from the world's finest hotels and resorts.
