WhiteSand Consulting Partners with Embo Consortium
JUNE 29, 2009 - As one of the two bidders for Port Elizabeth's only casino license, Embo Consortium has chosen WhiteSand Consulting to manage the first black-owned casino in the city of Port Elizabeth should Embo win the license.
The current license holder, Sun International, currently operates the casino, Boardwalk Casino & Entertainment World, and is competing against Embo for the license.
"We are very excited to have partnered with one of the finalists," said Saverio Scheri, managing director for WhiteSand Consulting. "We have invested a lot of time and energy in a design that will deliver an exceptional experience for the casino guests."
The Eastern Cape Gambling and Betting Board is reviewing both bids and will decide by August as the license comes up for renewal in 2010.
The Embo group plans to operate the casino under the management of WhiteSand, which will coach casino staff, and operate the casino for an agreed timeframe before handing over operations to Embo Management. The Embo group proposes to absorb all of the Boardwalk's staff to prevent job losses should it win the bid.
