Hotel De Charme Les Airelles Completes Renovation
Reopening for the Season December 11, 2009
AUGUST 28, 2009 - Situated in the heart of the Jardin Alpin, the five-star Hotel de Charme Les Airelles has been undergoing a three-year 35 million Euro renovation to be completed to coincide with the reopening December 11. Les Airelles is one of the most exclusive ski destinations in the world hosting royalty, international glitterati and the illustrious social elite.
The hotel will complete refurbishment and renovations to public areas including the lobby bar, living room lounge, library, guestrooms and suites on the first floor, fittings on the outside entrance and expansion to the hotel's renowned Kid's Kingdom, an expansive play area for children.
These final touches are in addition to last year's debut of the luxurious 5,900 square-foot Apartment Suite located on the top fourth floor of the hotel. The stunning residence features four-bedrooms all with private bathroom, a steam shower, a fireplace and a walk-in closet; a private spa; sound proof screening room and a 1,600 square-foot terrace with an outdoor Jacuzzi, offering unobstructed view of the expansive Courchevel slopes. Les Airelles also features a magnificent 7,000-square foot Valmont Spa for Les Airelles, an exclusive Valentino boutique, and three dining options, among them, the sumptuous Pierre Gagnaire Restaurant.
Accommodations
The 37 guestrooms and 14 suites are equipped with flat screen TV's and built-in DVD players, sound dock, video-on-demand service, jukebox and wireless high-speed Internet access. Most of the suites have a fireplace inviting guests to relax, and bathrooms are equipped with steam showers. In addition, accommodations have been fitted with refined decorations inspired from Italian and Austrian chalets of the past, including hand-painted wooden panels, Frey and Rubelli materials, along with Dedar and Declerc soft furnishings and silks.
Dining and Entertainment
Pierre Gagnaire for Les Airelles serves up sumptuous d'ecor and the cuisine of famed Chef Pierre Gagnaire. The restaurant pays tribute to Sissi of Bavaria, in a warm atmosphere of Austrian charm. In the center of the room hangs a majestic chandelier from the Cristallerie St. Louis. The art de table is by the partner houses Herm`es (crockery), Puiforcat (silverware) and Cristallerie St. Louis (glassware), all punctuated with contemporary touches including Olivier Gagni`ere armchairs and modern artwork.
The La Table du Jardin Alpin serves breakfast and lunch offering traditional and nouveau cuisine buffet-style on a sun-drenched terrace with direct access from the ski slopes to the Gloriette and the Relais des Skieurs. A skier valet is available to help guests remove boots and ease into warm carpet slippers to move around the various settings including a majestic fireplace, a comfortable dining room or lounge. Evening dining features traditional Bourgeoise cuisine with attention being paid to its utmost authenticity.
The Coin Savoyard is an authentic Carnotzet, a wine cellar and a unique dinner destination. The restaurant offers a great variety of regional specialties prepared in a cozy and convivial atmosphere featuring the most exquisite local products including selected cuts of meat grilled on a wood fire, and dishes such as tartiflette, raclette, and fondue, among others.
The Bar des Airelles is ideal for apr`es skiing or in the evening offering refined sweets accompanied by the finest teas and the hotel's famous hot chocolate. Highlighted by soft piano and contemporary lounge music, the Bar des Airelles becomes the essential evening meeting place. An elegant smoking room is available for the indulgence to sip vintage spirits after a meal or relaxing after a day on the slopes.
Valmont Spa for Les Airelles
Well-being and relaxation is offered at the 7,000 square-foot Valmont Spa for Les Airelles including soothing waterfalls, swimming pool, indoor and outdoor whirlpool bath, Turkish bath, hammam, saunas and an aromatic jet shower system.
One of the spa's highlights is the snow cave. Emerge from the steaming sauna and step into a one-of-a-kind alcove covered with natural and pure powder snow. The stimulating and cooling -10^0C temperature between sauna sessions creates a truly purifying and exhilarating experience.
Other features include a fruit juice and herbal-tea bar, five sound proofed treatment rooms fitted with showers (one of which offers baln'eo-therapy and a solarium) and a modern fitness room with the innovative "Kinesis Personal" system. An 11-person team of masseurs, physical therapists, personal trainers, osteopaths, beauty experts, a barber for men and a hairdresser for women, are all on hand to serve guests' needs.
By Terry, an exclusive upscale line of cosmetics is also available at Valmont Spa for Les Airelles. Founded by Terry Gunzburg, formerly of Yves Saint Laurent, these cosmetics are built on principles of fashion and luxury.
Kids' Kingdom
The newly refurbished 1,100 square-foot Kids' Kingdom is dedicated to children under the supervision of experienced nannies. The area consists of a 10 by 20 foot-fortified castle, the latest arcade video games, a car and motorcycle simulators, pinball machine, a curling table, video game consoles including Play Station 3, X-Box and Nintendo Wii, a multimedia corner, and an assortment of books and games. In addition, a theater-like projection room with soft couches and big cushions allow young guests to watch movies and relax in a comfortable setting. At the entrance of Les Airelles, a timeless carrousel welcomes the small ones, and a private skating rink is open until mid January featuring the unique service of a Skater Valet.
For the smallest guests, the Baby Village at Courchevel 1850 will welcome babies up to 18 months in a fully equipped facility for their comfort and pleasure, under the supervision of pediatric nurses and certified youth workers. Up to the age of 3, the Kids' Village offers the opportunity for the kids to discover, learn and relish all the ski fun, and full security is guaranteed. They are surrounded and guided by male and female instructors, progress at their own pace and experience the first exhilarating thrill of gliding down the slopes.
Valentino Haute Couture Store
A prestigious alliance between the famous Haute Couture store and the H^otel de Charme Les Airelles commenced with the opening of a store inside the hotel in December 2008. Guests now have the opportunity to do their luxury shopping without leaving the hotel, and to dress with utmost style in signature Valentino designs.
