77th Dover Days Festival - State Capital's Longest Running Event
Dover Days Festival 2010 is April 30 through May 2 It's a great festival weekend
DOVER, DE, September 15, 2009 - The 77th Annual Dover Days Festival scheduled April 30- May 2 kicks off with a "Tourism Gives Back" event April 30 from 5 to 9 p.m. on Legislative Mall. Bring your portable lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a hot rod, street and antique car "Cruise In," free live entertainment by the "Funsters," carnival, and buy dinner from Rob Fox of BBQ Grills cookin' his special pulled pork sandwiches.
Saturday, May 1 the big day of the Dover Days festival begins at 9:30 with a fabulous community parade followed by Maypole dancing on The Green and at Scull Mansion. A plethora of family oriented activities await the attendees including: an Amish quilt auction with quality handmade quilts hoisted from an elm tree; over 150 arts/craft and food vendors; encampments thorough the ages featuring camps beginning with the renaissance period, Native American Indians, Civil War and WWII; carnival for the kiddies; Early American artisans; historical performances; tours of Delaware's Capital and Old State House; tea at the Governor's house; pet parade; loads of children's activities and much, much more.
Sunday the Camden Historical Society will open historic homes and buildings for the 2nd annual House Tour. In the evening the Dover Symphony will perform in the Schwartz Center for the Arts.
Dover, Delaware, the Capital City of the State that started a Nation, is a fabulous place to be the first weekend in May at the State's longest running event.
