79th CHART Hospitality Training Conference
Promises High Level Training to Achieve Employers Success
High quality employee training programs are mission critical for employers success during challenging economic times. Members and guests of the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Trainers (CHART, www.chart.org) will gather March 6-9, 2010 to share and learn effective training and development practices that can quickly improve operational results and increase employee performance. CHART, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2010, will host this 79th semi-annual hospitality training conference at the Grand Hyatt in San Francisco, CA. This conference is the premier event where hotel trainers, restaurant trainers and hospitality human resource professionals gather to learn from inspiring keynote speakers, participate in interactive educational break-out sessions, network, and share best practices. The three day conference and one pre-conference day is specifically designed to include relevant and timely industry workforce learning topics, such as retention, training solutions, employee performance, leadership success, coaching, engaging facilitation, going 'green' and customer service/loyalty.

Highly-rated speaker Susan Steinbrecher will use her wealth of knowledge drawn from years of training and coaching executives to share the qualities necessary to achieve success and show how to implement them. Roadmap to Success is an interactive session which will allow participants the opportunity to assess how they currently see themselves around each of the five core fundamentals of effective leadership. The session will provide tools that can assist attendees to live each fundamental at a higher level. Susan is an inspirational speaker, author, and executive coach.
The Egonomics of High Performing Teams
Steven Smith, co-founder of MarcumSmith
Ego is the ultimate double-agent-it's the reason we succeed, and why we get tripped up and fall short. Steven Smith's presentation will offer a practical approach for understanding and handling egos in our organizations. His discussion will teach attendees to know their limits, understand what traits keep employees at full strength, and how the right level of confidence keeps teams grounded and at the same time provides an edge. Steve is an acclaimed speaker and author.
Training and Development: A Service Value Proposition
Joleen Goronkin, President of People and Performance Strategies
In today's competitive environment, we all must understand that VALUE is more important than ever before. This session will allow attendees to look through their customer's eyes to examine how service is delivered and determine if their team provides service in a way that creates the most value for the customer. Joleen Goronkin is a high-energy, passionate and engaging speaker and facilitator who will share best practices and tips on how to create or enhance employee's effectiveness.
Confidence Under Pressure
Don Akers, Motivational Speaker, Leadership Coach
This high-energy session will teach attendees how to use pressure as an advantage and remain confident in the face of an uncertain future. Olympic contender, Golden Gloves champion boxer, and Fortune 100 business expert Don Akers weaves entertaining, funny boxing stories with profound ideas to build one's business and live more fully. His insight's are real, practical and will be immediately useful. The ability to focus under pressure defines greatness. Participants will learn how to leverage pressure to attain positive results and become less fearful when faced with challenges.
