August 10, 2010 - Thought leaders in the Shopping, Dining and Cultural-Heritage Tourism sectors have announced plans to combine three successful conferences (Shop America Tourism Conference, Cultural & Heritage Tourism Conference and the California Cultural Tourism Conference) into the ONE Travel Conference on Shopping, Dining and Cultural Tourism, to be held January 16-18, 2011 in Pasadena, CA.

Keynote presenters including Roger Dow, CEO of the U.S. Travel Association; Helen Marano, Executive Director, U.S. Department of Commerce/OTTI and Caroline Beteta, CEO of California Travel & Tourism Commission will be joined by more than 35 influential presenters and 225 delegates from throughout the USA for three days of executive level idea exchange, partnership development, SASI-ONE Awards for innovative marketing and VIP Workshop Tours with shopping, dining and cultural trend setters in Pasadena, Los Angeles and at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa.

Shopping, Dining and Cultural-Heritage Travel are consistently ranked as the top three travel activities in the USA, according to data tracked by the U.S. Department of Commerce/Office of Travel & Tourism Industries (OTTI) and the U.S. Travel Association. With the recent passage of the Travel Promotion Act, growth in international inbound travel, along with the ongoing economic recovery fueling domestic travel, the conference is focused on addressing new opportunities for business development and growth for the travel industry.

“The ONE Travel Conference is a win/win for all involved,” states Rosemary McCormick, President of Shop America Alliance and co-producer of the ONE Travel Conference. “Experiential travel is what consumers want today, more than just 'heads in beds.' Several research studies underscore the synergy between shopping, dining and cultural-heritage travel. At the ONE Travel Conference, we will explore and celebrate the best practices in promoting these important travel sectors. The program, developed with input from our advisory committee of industry leaders, will focus on delivering ROI through the Power of Partnerships.”

“Our goal is to unify these powerful travel industry segments so we can speak with ONE voice on the importance of promoting these top travel experiences. They are key economic drivers and job providers, “ states Sheila Armstrong, Executive Director of the US Cultural & Heritage Tourism Marketing Council and co-producer of the ONE Travel Conference. “The Travel Promotion Act provides new and exciting national and international marketing opportunities. There are many creative approaches to experiential marketing. Delegates at the ONE Travel Conference, destination marketing organizations (DMOs), shopping, dining and cultural-heritage leaders along with international tourism partners, have the unique opportunity to shape new initiatives that will benefit all.” Ms. Armstrong also serves on the U.S. Department of Commerce's Travel & Tourism Advisory Board charged with advising Gary Locke, Secretary of Commerce, on tourism policy issues.

“The Cultural & Heritage Tourism Alliance (C&HTA) is pleased to take a lead role in planning and promoting the ONE Travel Conference, “states Barbara Steinfeld, Vice President of Tourism, Travel Portland and spokesperson for the C&HTA Board of Directors. “Our cultural and heritage partners are industry leaders who look forward to sharing their expertise and best practices with this expanded audience and developing new partnerships.”

Susan Wilcox, Industry Relations Director, California Travel & Tourism Commission, states, “California is pleased to welcome the premier ONE Travel Conference to beautiful Pasadena, California and the historic Langham Hotel and to be partners in planning and promoting this industry milestone event. California actively promotes our wide array of superb shopping, trend setting dining and rich collection of cultural and heritage treasures.”
