Canadian Native to Oversee Day-to-Day Operations at Contemporary, Upscale Property Located Adjacent to Canada's Largest and Busiest Airport
November 11, 2010 - Hilton Worldwide today announced the appointment of Andy Loges to general manager of Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel & Suites. In his new role, Loges will manage staff, operations, sales and budgeting at the 419-room property, which recently completed a nearly two-year, $15 million renovation.
Throughout the course of his 20-year hospitality career, Loges has held top leadership positions at renowned hotels and resorts in the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Ontario. Most recently, he spent six years as general manager of the AAA Four Diamond Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville, where he successfully executed two multi-million dollar renovations. During his accomplished tenure, Loges also created and implemented new initiatives to improve employee morale; he increased food and beverage revenues and guest satisfaction; and he achieved recognition from Marriott for managing the company's top event hotel in the country.
“We're thrilled to appoint Andy to this leadership role at a very exciting time in the hotel's history,” said Ted Ratcliff, senior vice president, operations, eastern North America, Hilton Worldwide. “With the recent completion of a two-year, $15 million renovation, the Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel & Suites now offers guests a high quality of service and amenities uncharacteristic of typical airport hotels. Andy's strong familiarity with the Toronto market, coupled with his previous management experience, makes him the perfect candidate to lead the hotel into in its post-renovation phase.”
Loges previously served four years as general manager of the 389-room Richmond Hotel and Convention Centre, located just outside of Vancouver, British Columbia. Under his direction, the property implemented new policies that increased sales, improved employee relations and elevated service standards. Prior to this role, Loges spent five years at the 250-room Ocean Pointe Resort Hotel & Spa in Victoria, British Columbia, where he held assistant general manager, director of catering and banquet manager positions.
Loges remains active in Toronto's hotel industry as chair of the Greater Toronto Hotel Association, which represents the city's 170 hotels. He previously served on the boards of the Toronto Convention & Visitors Association and the Vancouver Hotel Association.
Loges attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology and is currently pursuing a Certificate in Executive Leadership from Cornell University. He lives in Toronto with his two children.
