. November 22, 2010

ADAIRSVILLE, GA - November 19, 2010 - Barnsley Gardens Resort is excited to announce that General Manager Scott Mahr has been chosen by the Georgia Section of the PGA of America as “Professional of the Year.” Mahr will be honored during the Fourth Annual Georgia PGA Special Awards & Weir Scholarship Banquet at Turner Field on Saturday, February 19, 2011.

“I am speechless to have been chosen by the Georgia PGA for this award,” said Mahr. “To be recognized by your peers and the professionals you have admired and learned so much from is quite humbling.”

Mahr joined Barnsley Gardens Resort in 1999 as the resort's golf professional. He worked his way to golf professional/assistant general manager, and in 2005 Mahr's passion for the property resulted in him being promoted to general manager. Mahr encourages all of the employees at Barnsley Gardens Resort to provide quality service that receives national accolades and exceeds guests' expectations. He has cultivated not only a strong employee base but a family-style atmosphere among the staff at the property. Also, under Mahr's direction, the resort's revenue has continued to grow, even in a tough economy.

Mahr is also very active within the community. In addition to serving as a board member of the Georgia PGA, his other current board positions include the Georgia Hotel & Lodging Association, Cartersville/Bartow County CVB, and Advance Adairsville.

The Georgia PGA is one of the 41 Sections of The PGA of America. Its membership includes PGA Professionals working at more than 260 golf courses, clubs, and ranges throughout the state. One of Georgia PGA's primary goals is to promote the game of golf through clinics, junior and minority golf programs, consumer programs, and print and television media.
