JAL Adds Charter Flights to CNMI
JANUARY 23, 2007. The Marianas Visitors Bureau (MVB) has announced that Japan Airlines (JAL) has confirmed it will bring more charter flights from Osaka to the CNMI during Golden Week. The original commitment of three flights has been doubled to six. JAL Osaka indicated that eight of Japan's major wholesalers are aggressively supporting the charter programme, which prompted the carrier to boost the number of its Osaka-Saipan charters. The six charters from Osaka in April supplement the airline's nine charters from Osaka scheduled for March.
The Golden Week JAL charters will operate with a 232-seat Boeing 767. The plane is configured with 202 economy seats and 30 "Raku Raku" seats. The planned flight schedule for the six charters is April 27 - April 30, April 28 - May 2, April 29 - May 3, April 30 - May 4, May 1 - May 5 and May 2 - May 6.
"This is very encouraging news for the CNMI," said MVA Managing Director Mr Perry Tenorio. "Japan continues to deliver the highest number of tourists to the CNMI, and having these additional charters allows more Japanese visitors to explore our beautiful islands."
