Glenwood Springs, CO - March 17, 2011 - The Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge is getting the spa treatment, thanks to a new $2 million renovation project. World-famous for its enormous outdoor hot springs pool and luxurious Spa of the Rockies, the renovation brings the spa experience to all 107 guest rooms with even more comfort, added conveniences and technological improvements. The first phase of the transformation begins on April 1 and wraps up in time for the busy Memorial Day weekend.

The Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge renovation takes its cue from the resort's own Spa of the Rockies, a soothing and serene setting for the ultimate in relaxation treatments. Like the Spa of the Rockies, the guest rooms will feature quality finishes, comforting colors and organic design elements inspired by the beauty and healing energy of the mineral springs and the surrounding area. Not only will guest rooms be a feast for the eyes, functional design elements such as in-room refrigerators, state-of-the-art guest room safes, energy-saving lighting, and technology upgrades to name a few, are intended to further enhance guest experiences.

“Superior guest service has always been our top priority,” said Kjell Mitchell, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of Glenwood Hot Springs. “With this renovation our goal is to provide every Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge guest with all they require in terms of comfort and convenience, so they can relax and fully enjoy the Glenwood Hot Springs experience.”

The spa ambiance embraces guests as soon as they step into the newly designed rooms. A comforting color palette of soothing sage greens, earthy browns and warm creamy neutrals invites guests to unwind. Touchable surfaces delight the senses as well. A fluffy down-filled duvet encased in a waffle weave cover conjures images of cozy spa robes, a river rock lamp reminds guests of Glenwood Hot Springs' connection to the natural thermal springs, and lavishly framed photographs depict images that provide an artistic perspective of the geological wonders of the area. The spa treatment extends to the bathroom, a modern alcove for rejuvenation. A residential-style vanity with granite countertops helps guests feel right at home, while the shower enclosure, decorated with luminous glass accents of olive, gold and chocolate, channels a vacation state of mind.

Among the most significant changes guests will encounter are the thoughtful upgrades to in-room technology. Each room will feature a 42-inch flat screen LED television that is HDMI- and Cat 5-compatible. Concealed within the custom cabinetry are a built-in mini fridge, a microwave and a state-of-the-art, in-room safe for storing valuables. A convenient bedside docking station for iPods and smartphones, as well as carefully placed outlets, allow guests to easily recharge electronic devices, and work or play online in numerous locations throughout the room. Another attentive detail that will have guests resting easy is the LED reading lights installed in the tall mahogany headboards. The focused beam provides ample light for reading while allowing others in the room to drift off to sleep.

Several other design elements are sure to enhance guest stays at Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge as well. New sofa sleepers were chosen with guest comfort in mind. A premium mechanism fitted with ComforPedic® mattresses that are firm, not lumpy like the fold-out couches of the past, ensure a restful slumber. Upon waking, in-room coffee makers allow guests to start the day with a freshly brewed cup of coffee, even before they head over to the Grill for their complimentary continental breakfast.

Because Glenwood Hot Springs is attuned to caring for the earth's natural resources, it has chosen to use energy-efficient fluorescent lighting in all rooms. An increased number of light fixtures, including floor lamps, table lamps and wall sconces, adds to the overall ambiance; three-way bulbs covered with linen shades provide multiple levels of lighting.

The Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge renovation is a two-phase project, with the first phase commencing on April 1 and finishing by Memorial Day. Phase two of the project begins after the summer peak season, October 17, 2011 to December 16, 2011. Designer Brenda Amsberry, of Ricca Newmark Design, the award-winning design firm based in Denver, Colorado, will oversee all of the interior design elements. Supervising the construction is general contractor, Seagren Construction, a company that specializes in hospitality projects and that is also based out of the Denver area. Guests planning a stay at Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge during either renovation phase can rest assured that their comfort will not be impacted by the project. With every stay at the Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge, guests receive unlimited admission to the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, complimentary continental breakfast at the poolside restaurant, and even discounted admittance to the Glenwood Hot Springs Athletic Club.
