Rezidor SAS Announces Plans for New Radisson SAS Hotel Zurich Airport
BRUSSELS, EU, August 8, 2005. Rezidor SAS Hospitality, the Brussels-based multi-brand hospitality company, has announced plans for the new Radisson SAS Hotel Zurich Airport, Switzerland. Construction will begin at the start of 2006, and is slated for completion in autumn 2008. The lb65 million (approx. $51 million U.S.) hotel will be located directly opposite the departure terminal (Terminal 1) of Zurich Airport and will feature 329 rooms and 40,000 square feet of conference space. The hotel will be the first hotel in Switzerland with direct airport access.
Swiss group Zurich Airport Invest AG, a subsidiary of Acron AG, has acquired the building rights for the hotel. The owner of the land and seller of the building rights is Unique (Flughafen Z"urich AG). Rezidor SAS Hospitality holds a 25-year lease for the Radisson SAS Hotel Zurich Airport with Z"urich Airport Invest AG. The general contractor is the Swiss company Marazzi Generalunternehmung AG, based in Muri near Bern, which has developed the project in collaboration with Unique.
The new airport hotel will primarily focus on business travelers and frequent flyers with facilities including stylish rooms, spacious conference and event space on the hotel's first and seventh floors with modern meeting and conference equipment and views of the airport. Leisure facilities include an inviting lobby bar for one-on-one meetings and a dining menu which tailors to the needs of today's frequent travelers. The facilities also include a fitness and wellness area.
