EPTEMBER 27, 2012 =- enver-based Sage Hospitality, an established leader in hotel management and investment, is pleased to announce that it has been named a Colorado Top Company by ColoradoBiz magazine.

The Denver Business Journal also recently named Sage a finalist in their “Denver's Healthiest Employers” awards.

The ColoradoBiz “Top Company” awards are recognized as Colorado's most competitive business award. Firms are judged on three criteria: financial performance, community involvement and outstanding achievement in areas such as product innovation, operational excellence or marketing effectiveness.

Sage - which employs more than 1,500 Coloradoans at its downtown Denver headquarters and 17 Colorado hotels - was named the winner in the Tourism/Hospitality category. The winners were selected by a panel of Colorado business leaders and policy officials.

“I think that one of our biggest differentiators is Sage's dedication to strong corporate citizenship,” said Sage CEO Walter Isenberg. “Everyone at Sage is very focused on giving back to the communities in which we work and live. It's just good business - people are excited to work at an organization that cares about the community and people want to do business with an organization that cares about the community.”

Sage also encourages its more than 5,000 employees nationwide to make positive decisions about their nutrition and fitness through its SageWell health initiative. Programs include an annual Healthy Potluck and resulting cookbook with winning employee recipes, an 8-week “Biggest Loser” style campaign that resulted in more than 900 pounds lost and an Eat Your Colors campaign that encourages associates to eat five servings of fruits and vegetables each day. Sage offers program participants the opportunity to earn a variety of wellness-related prizes, including health club memberships and sporting goods gift certificates. Sage also provides free on-site health screenings and web-based health assessments and rewards associates who take advantage of these resources with reductions in medical insurance premiums.

Sage is currently in a period of aggressive growth; pursuing acquisition and repositioning opportunities ranging from $25 million to $300 million in major markets across the United States. Sage has added more than 20 properties to its portfolio in the past 12 months, including the Embassy Suites Denver - Downtown/Convention Center and the SpringHill Suites Denver Downtown at Metro State.
