The Alexander, a Dolce Hotel, Launches Search for Best Cocktail In Town
Submit a Drink Recipe for Plat99's Cocktail Menu
November 2, 2012 - The Alexander, A Dolce Hotel, is putting out a call for mixologists - amateur and professional alike - to submit their most original and refreshing drink recipe for a chance to see their creation on the Plat99 cocktail menu. Indiana residents who are over 21 are invited to submit their recipes via The Alexander Hotel's Facebook page, for a chance to win a deluxe overnight stay at The Alexander, a $100 Plat99 gift certificate, and a chance to see their cocktail on the Plat99 menu after it opens in January.
"Plat99 is all about artisan cocktails, created with the best spirits and finest ingredients," said Michael Moros, general manager of The Alexander. "We're looking for people that share our creative spirit, and love to combine various flavors in unexpected ways." Plat99 takes its name from the original city plan created by Alexander Ralston; The Alexander is located on the spot that Ralston deemed "Plat 99."
In addition to the drink recipe, entrants will also submit a photo of their cocktail creation. "We want our cocktails to be a feast for all of the senses, so the visual look of the drink will be an important component," said Moros.
All entries must use at least one of the following Beam Inc. spirits as the basis for the recipe:
•Knob Creek Rye
•Small Batch Bourbon collection (Knob Creek, Basil Hayden's, Baker's and Booker's)
•Pinnacle Vodka (80 proof and flavored vodkas - Whipped, Pineapple, Gummy, Orange Whipped, Chocolate Whipped, Cherry Whipped, Cake and Peach)
•Pinnacle Gin
•Thatcher's Organic Cordials (Yumberry, Blood Orange, Prickly Pear, Apple Spice Ginger, Cucumber, Elderflower, Chipotle and Blueberry)

Entries will be accepted beginning at 9:00 a.m. on November 7, through November 23 at midnight. From November 24 through December 1, visitors to The Alexander's Facebook page can vote on their favorite recipe by "liking" it. The entry with the most "likes" will automatically be entered into the final round. The remaining four finalists will be selected by Alexander staff based on the following criteria: taste appeal of the recipe (30 points); visual appeal of the photo (25 points); and overall creativity (20 points). Full rules and instructions for entry can be found at The Alexander's Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/thealexanderhotelindianapolis, November 7th when the contest goes live. In the mean time, those interested are encouraged to like The Alexander's Facebook page to receive up to the minute information on entries.
The five finalists will compete for the grand prize, as well as a people's choice selection, at a "mix off" event at The Alexander hotel on December 7 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Sylvia ("Sly") Cosmopoulos, corporate mixologist in charge of drink development for Republic National Distributing Company, LLC, will be on-hand to determine the final winner, and the public is invited to come taste the competing creations.
