2007 International Hotel Conference to Honor 'International Hotelier Global Citizen'
Honoree to Be Selected by Open Vote on the Web, Winner's Charity Will Receive a 5,000 Euro Grant
CHICAGO, IL / ROME, Italy, February 12, 2007. Officials of the International Hotel Conference today announced the launch of the "International Hotelier Global Citizen" Award. The designation will be awarded to the international hotelier who has made an impact on the hospitality industry, as well as humanitarian contributions to society. The inaugural honoree will be announced at the fifth International Hotel Conference to be held 17-19 October, 2007 at the Cavaleri Hilton in Rome, Italy.
"This award will have several unusual aspects," said Mary Lou Koys and Morris E. Lasky, conference co-chairpersons "It is the first to honor both individual industry achievements and contributions to society. In addition, it will be the first to be selected by the hotel industry by vote rather than a small group."
People involved in the hotel industry worldwide may nominate any hotelier of their choice by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. The nomination must include the person's basic information and why he or she should be selected, based on contributions to the international hotel industry and contributions to society. Nominations will be open until April 15, 2007.
Voting will take place at www.internationalhotelconference.com from April 15 until August 1. "We ask that people only cast one vote, " Lasky said.
The winner will be announced during the first general session at the International Hotel Conference. A grant of 5,000 Euros will be donated to the charity of the honoree's choice.
