Sheraton New York Hotel Changes Name to Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel
Name Change Draws Upon Key Search Term for Travelers to New York City
NEW YORK (November 29, 2012) - Honoring its iconic Times Square location, the Sheraton New York hotel has officially changed its name to Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel. The announcement was made simultaneously in New York by General Manager Mark Sanders and in China by Director of Sales and Marketing Kai Fischer.
In Manhattan, General Manager Mark Sanders made the announcement to 1,020 hotel staff and executives, “As we celebrate our 50th Anniversary this year, we look toward the future of our property as we continue to change and grow. In today's age of online travel searches, it is important for us to continue to attract business and leisure guests, while maximizing our assets. Adding Times Square to our name gives a nod to our central location in the heart of the Times Square Business District.”
In Guangzhou, Director of Sales and Marketing Kai Fischer recently announced the name change during a trade mission in China, where New York travel industry partners and NYC & Company met with local travel industry professionals to promote New York City. Mr. Fischer said, “We are acknowledging the growing trend and importance of the international traveler, especially since one of the key search terms for people traveling to New York City is 'Times Square'. With the new name, we honor our hotel's location and will appear more frequently when a potential guest searches for hotels in Times Square.”
The Sheraton New York Times Square appeals to leisure and business guests alike, and the hotel recently unveiled a $160 million top-to-bottom renovation. The hotel features completely redesigned guest rooms that incorporate a sophisticated look with a contemporary touch and elegant feel, as well as new public spaces and sought-after amenities such as the 44th Floor Club Lounge and the Sheraton Fitness Center programmed by Core Performance.
The final phase of the renovation will take place from mid-December 2012 to March 1, 2013, when a structural and aesthetic renovation of the ballroom and meeting spaces will reveal new designs and color schemes. For more information, go to www.SheratonNewYorkTimesSquare.com.
