Nationwide Project Management Effort Had JHG Start Six New Hotels Weekly

ATLANTA - December 5, 2012 - A year after implementing a strategy to renovate 79 hotels owned by Hospitality Properties Trust (HPT) and managed by IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), The John Hardy Group will complete its final round of hospitality development on the Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites brands this fall.

The John Hardy Group divided the $165 million dollar renovation program into five phases, starting six properties each Monday, and completing six hotels a month. In an orchestrated effort designed to quickly, and efficiently, refresh or convert the two brands, JHG developed a team of vendors, general contractors and warehouses across the U.S. and in Canada that would complete each property in eight weeks. The program involved the complete renovation of 10,000 guestrooms, kitchens and baths, exterior painting and other quality upgrades, 40 warehouses, six different contractors and the program management by JHG of well over 100 separate contracts.

The IHG in-house design team and architecture firm CMMI, based in Atlanta, led design. JHG was brought on to assist in the design and development process of guestrooms at the Candlewood Suites hotels and both guestrooms and public spaces at the Staybridge Suites hotels.

“With a team of just five people, we were able to do the due diligence, set a budget and timeline for the project and then led this program management effort to its successful completion turnkey with a refreshed design and more competitive properties,” said Hardy.
