MARCH 28, 2007. Over the past four years the M"ovenpick Hotel Zurich-Airport has undergone a programme of complete refurbishment. The property owners Clair Finanz AG and M"ovenpick Hotels & Resorts have invested more than CHF 30 million in the renovation work. With the work now completed, the airport- and business hotel and its 333 rooms are up to five-star standard according to Hotellerie Suisse and also fully equipped for disabled access.

The first main phase in the overall refurbishment focused on the facade and roof renovation work as well as the installation of sound-proof windows (with side windows opening in all the rooms). The hotel's forecourt has also been spaciously redesigned. Guests can now wait under the hotel's new canopy roof for the free shuttle bus, which operates at 20-minute intervals directly between the airport's terminals and the hotel. A glass and metal carousel revolving door ushers the guests into the entrance foyer with its modern lobby lounge and reception area, which is now bathed in light and decorated in warm colours, making it the ideal rendezvous for non-residents, too. The amenities are complemented by a business corner, a crew lounge specially designed to meet the requirements of airline crews, and a fitness centre with the very latest equipment.

The 170 Superior Rooms (30 m2) have also been remodelled and feature a delightful, modern design. The 10th floor now also offers Suites and Executive Rooms, whose trendy colours and high-quality furnishings immediately convey an overall sense of well-being and comfort. All these rooms are equipped with flat-screen TV, free broadband internet access and chaise longue. The corridors leading to the guest rooms are also to be fully renovated by the end of 2007.

The banqueting floor and all the conference premises have also been redesigned, with 13 modular meeting rooms for up to 400 participants, complete with state-of-the-art equipment to suit every occasion. Public wireless LAN is available here as it is throughout the entire hotel.

The popular Hotel Bar has been comprehensively modernised, too, and the M"ovenpick Hotel Restaurant has been given a face-lift. The culinary offer is rounded off as before with the "Appenzeller Stube" serving Mediterranean cuisine and traditional Swiss specialities, and the "Dim Sum", for Chinese delicacies. In summer all the restaurant concepts are also available on the new terrace complete with lounge.

"We're delighted that the renovation work is now completed and that we're able to offer our guests five-star service and quality standards in the immediate vicinity of Zurich Airport," says Ren'e M. Singeisen, General Manager at the M"ovenpick Hotel Zurich-Airport. "The renovations were not restricted to the guest areas only, but also extended behind the scenes: new measures in keeping with fire regulations are now in place and new safety and communication systems have been installed, not to mention the renovation of the main sanitation plant room."

"It has always been part of our strategy to continually adapt the offer at our existing hotels to our guests' requirements," explains Stefan Flury, Senior Vice President Europe M"ovenpick Hotels & Resorts. "Now that we have upgraded our Swiss hotels in Lausanne and Geneva, our hotels in Regensdorf and Egerkingen are next in line for a complete make-over." by the M"ovenpick Holding (66.7 %) as well as the Kingdom Group (33.3 %).
