APRIL 18, 2007. A survey of member hotels by the SDH office shows that on average, the number of overnight stays increased by more than ten percent in comparison to the previous year, with turnover actually up by an average of over thirteen percent. Several establishments, such as the Gstaad Palace, Tschuggen Grand Hotel in Arosa and the Suvretta House in St. Moritz recorded their best season ever.

Particularly worthy of note is the fact that record results were also achieved in winter 2005/06, adding even more weight to the latest figures. Room occupancy rates of over 90% at Swiss Deluxe Hotels are not infrequent in the winter-sports regions.

The hotels remain as popular as ever with guests from Switzerland and Germany, the two major markets. Also noteworthy in the past winter season was the renewed increase in guest frequencies from the United Kingdom, the USA, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia.

"The healthy economic situation in many of our guests' countries of origin resulted in more spending on hotel services in the culinary sector, in the ever more attractive SPA and wellness facilities and in the wide range of sports on offer," declares Swiss Deluxe Hotels chairman Vic Jacob. "The considerable investments undertaken in many of our hotels are paying off more and more - particularly in winters with little snow."

The positive development in member establishments is also visible in the whole of Switzerland: Graubunden, the Valais and Bernese Oberland have also recorded similar development in terms of results. City hotels such as the Palace Luzern, the Eden au Lac and Baur au Lac in Zurich, and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel du Rhone in Geneva can also report an outstanding winter season. Vic Jacob: "These exceptionally pleasing results show that the Swiss Deluxe Hotels are well-equipped to meet future challenges."
