. July 27, 2016

NEW YORK, NY. July 27, 2016 - New York Central restaurant at Grand Hyatt New York has been honored for its outstanding wine program with an Award of Excellence in Wine Spectator's 2016 Restaurant Wine List Awards. The modern seasonally inspired restaurant is recognized among other winners from all over the globe as a top destination for wine lovers.

The Award of Excellence recognizes restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style.

“We are thrilled to receive this prestigious honor from Wine Spectator for the first time,” said James Dale, Director of Food and Beverage at Grand Hyatt New York. “With our resident sommelier Nicolas Prieto at the helm, we carefully curate an expansive list of interesting and delicious wines that pair well with our fresh seasonal cuisine. In addition to over 100 selections of wine on our menu, we also offer wine programming for our guests including Chef's Table wine dinners and tasting events in our Wine Gallery.”

New York Central offers a creative menu that focuses on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients along with an open kitchen and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Midtown Manhattan. Executive Chef Kevin Reardon and Chef de Cuisine Daron Lee create unique dishes featuring fresh local ingredients cooked in a simple and refined manner to pair well with the highly regarded wine list and best bring out the different flavors.

The restaurant's extensive wine list, curated by resident sommelier Nicolas Prieto, offers over 100 different varieties and focuses primarily on California and French wines with an emphasis on sustainable and organic bottle selection. Born in Bogota, Colombia, Prieto's passion for the wine industry is rooted under the mentorship of Master Sommelier and Sake Samurai Roger Dargon, who Prieto first met while studying under him in college. He joined the New York Central team at Grand Hyatt New York as sommelier in 2014 and during his time at the property, Prieto has received accreditations from The American Sommelier Association and The Court of Masters Sommeliers. As the Beverage Manager and resident Sommelier, Nicolas Prieto has curated a wine list that complements the seasonal contemporary cuisine served at New York Central restaurant.

New York Central will be featured on http://www.winespectator.com/ and in the August 31 issue, on newsstands now.
