Minneapolis Marriott Introduces Check-in Pods

. October 14, 2008

MINNEAPOLIS, MN, January 14, 2008. Having recently completed a $25 million renovation, the Marriott Minneapolis City Center has debuted check-in pods in their new lobby in order to provide a more intimate interaction between guests and staff.

Check-in pods are becoming more popular in the hospitality industry as hotels strive to create a more personal experience for their guests. While the traditional check-in counter is a physical barrier that creates a feeling of separation between the hotel staff and those picking up their room keys, check in pods are more flexible and intimate.

"At the Marriott Minneapolis City Center, we strive to provide guest with comfortable, quality service throughout their stay," said John Buntemeyer, general manager of the Marriott Minneapolis City Center. "Our associates love being able to interact directly with the guest, and check-in pods also make our staff more accessible to the guests."

Check-in pods are just one example of how the Marriott is leading the way to make their lobbies gathering places for guests, especially business travelers. The brand new lobby in the Minneapolis Marriott is the first in the Midwest to embrace Marriott's new groundbreaking "Lobby Reinvented" design, intended to accommodate business travelers who like to work, relax and socialize simultaneously. The new space features a welcome zone with check-in pods; an individual zone; a social zone with intimate tables for quiet meetings or a glass of wine; and a business zone with workstations.
