Alex Cisneros Receives "Top 25" Honor as An HSMAI Extraordinary Mind

Top 25 Extraordinary Minds in Hospitality Sales, Marketing and Revenue Optimization Recognized as Part of Annual List

USA, Columbus, Ohio. March 01, 2022

The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) has selected Alex Cisneros as one of "The HSMAI Top 25: Extraordinary Minds in Hospitality Sales, Marketing, Revenue Optimization" for 2021.

The 19th annual list recognizes the "best of the best" in the hospitality, travel, and tourism industries. Recipients will be honored in person on March 30, 2022 at a special reception in Boca Raton, Florida.

The 2021 "Top 25" recipients were judged by a panel of senior industry executives for their recent work based on the following criteria: creativity and innovation, cutting edge sales or marketing campaigns, triumph in challenging situations, and/or sales efforts that resulted in dramatic gains.

"The ‘Top 25' is our annual hot list that celebrates the sales, marketing and revenue optimization leaders and innovators in our industry," said Robert A. Gilbert, CHME, CHBA, President and CEO of HSMAI. "Throughout the pandemic and into the recovery, these extraordinary professionals have risen to each challenge and met unprecedented circumstances with creativity, strength, and ingenuity. These leaders are empowering recovery."

"Alex is a highly valued and respected member of our Senior Leadership team, and his dedication and ingenuity are vital to Red Roof's success. The recognition of him as one of HSMAI's Top 25 Most Extraordinary Minds is a fitting honor," says George Limbert, president, Red Roof. "His creative and results-driven approach to identifying the changing dynamics of the Red Roof guest in the face of challenges posed throughout 2020 and 2021 helped build a path for Red Roof's stability just four months into the disruption and served the needs of local communities across the country."

Alex Cisneros is a 17-year veteran of the hospitality industry whose expertise lies in revenue management and distribution. He is focused on ways to positively impact and enhance the customer experience, while at the same time improving Red Roof franchisees' bottom line.

Cisneros joined Red Roof in 2019 as leader of the company's revenue management and analytics teams, and he formerly served as VP of revenue generation for Wyndham Destinations.

"This is an unexpected honor, and I am thankful to be counted among the leaders HSMAI has recognized this year," Cisneros said. "When I joined Red Roof in 2019, I knew it would be necessary to assess and revamp some of our internal processes, but no one was ready for the changes the industry has experienced since then. Data is telling us more now than ever before and we use that data, and our proprietary technology, to conduct analytics that help us better understand customers, trends and markets. This allows us to systematically outthink and outmaneuver the competition.

"At the end of the day, Red Roof's success is possible thanks, in part, to my great team and my peers, Red Roof's leaders who are willing to turn our data-driven insights into swift actions."

Cisneros' achievements will be honored by HSMAI on March 30, 2022.

In addition to the Top 25 reception, Cisneros will be featured in an HSMAI special report, receive a personalized award, and hence forward will be recognized as a Top 25 Mind in Hospitality Sales, Marketing and Revenue Optimization.

Hotel Revenue Management: Every Square Foot Matters

Traditionally, hotels have employed a room-centric revenue model. The primary focus was on pricing strategies that could generate the most revenue from the sale of rooms. However, the pandemic has forced hoteliers to look beyond room revenue exclusively, and to maximize all available revenue streams. How is this accomplished? By re-imagining the use and function of every square foot of a hotel property, and how revenue is generated from it. For example, some hotels are rethinking their spaces for different uses - offering rooms for private day meetings, or offering suites for private dinners. Other hotels with meeting spaces are moving beyond daytime conferences and events, and figuring out how to book those spaces in the evenings, on holidays and weekends, for such things as exhibitions, workshops, rehearsals and pop-ups. Still other hotels are leasing work spaces or parking spaces to businesses in their local market. The October issue of the Hotel Business Review will report on how some leading hotels are re-inventing their revenue management strategies.
