USA, Nashville, Tennessee. September 15, 2023

The Union Station Nashville Yards, a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel and historic former train station in downtown Nashville, is delighted to announce the appointment of Elvira Skomorowska as the hotel's new Director of Sales & Marketing. A highly experienced leader in luxury historic hotels, Skomorowska will spearhead sales and marketing operations for the property's 135 guest suites, meeting rooms, on-site restaurant and lobby bar.

Skomorowska joins The Union Station with an extensive background, having served as Director of Sales & Marketing for multiple top tier boutique properties across the midwest, including the Magnolia Hotel St. Louis - a Marriott Tribute Portfolio Hotel, The Blackstone Hotel - an iconic Marriott Autograph Collection hotel in downtown Chicago, and the Ambassador Chicago Hotel - a JdV by Hyatt collection property.

Skomorowska comes to The Union Station well-versed in historic properties. During her time with The Blackstone Hotel, she played a pivotal role in overseeing the hotel's expansive renovations while preserving its rich past and significance as an historic building listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. In her past roles, she has been individually responsible for driving brand strategies, enhancing sales, and hiring and training best-in-class sales, marketing, catering and conference service teams, leading them towards achievement of revenue and market share goals.

"We're thrilled to have Elvira joining our team, bringing with her a track record of success in each of her prior roles," said General Manager Bill Simmons. "We look forward to achieving new goals and heights under her sales leadership and continuing to create meaningful experiences for our guests."

Hotel Revenue Management: The Age of Big Data

The future of hotel revenue management lies in the adoption of ever more sophisticated software and technology, especially as it pertains to forecasting and pricing. For revenue professionals, the Age of Big Data has arrived. Managers are utilizing systems that employ leading-edge algorithms and machine learning, along with business analytics and data visualization tools. These tools communicate complex information more effectively, allowing managers to understand the key components driving demand and revenue. They have the ability to analyze real-time external and internal data, produce reports, and integrate information - all on a single platform - in order to improve performance. Managers are also utilizing  geographic information systems (GIS) which incorporate geographic data into forecasting. GIS also help decision-makers identify information in a visual way that cannot be detected through traditional data analysis. The October issue of the Hotel Business Review will report on how some hotels are integrating Big Data into their revenue management strategies.
