Buckingham Hotel Creates $150,000 Christmas Key to the City

For the Fully Loaded Family, a Christmas to Remember

. October 14, 2008

NEW YORK, NY, November 27, 2007. The Buckingham Hotel is putting a little - or should we say a lot - of extra Christmas magic into New York City this holiday season. The Hotel is giving one flush family the chance to experience their own private winter wonderland in the quintessential holiday city with its $150,000 "Christmas Key to the City Package."

The first highlight of the adventure is the journey itself - a private car in an Amtrak train. Coddled in luxury from the moment they step inside, the family will have the ultimate NYC all-access pass in the form of an engraved, diamond-encrusted, golden Christmas Key. The Christmas spirit starts with wreaths, pine cones and more, red cashmere train slippers by Restoration Hardware and green iPods loaded with holiday classics for each family member to make for a cheerful trip.

Upon arrival at Penn Station, a winter white vintage Rolls Royce will be waiting to escort the family to Times Square, where they will be greeted by their own giant Christmas Card on the Panasonic Times Square Mega Screen. Then, it's off to get settled in the luxurious penthouse at the Buckingham Hotel, which will be outfitted ceiling to floor with Christmas decorations, complete with a miniature replica of the tree at Rockefeller Center. Atop the tree will be a Swarovski crystal star for the family to treasure for Christmases to come.

After taking time to enjoy the penthouse's 360 degree view of the stunning midtown Manhattan skyline, the family will hop back in the Rolls and be whisked away to Rock Center Caf'e where the restaurant will close for a private six-course family feast including Seared Duck Confit, Cumin and Coriander Crusted Loin of Lamb, and a Carmelized Apple Tart with Bourbon Caramel Sauce. After dinner overlooking the glistening ice, the family will enjoy private skating lessons with famous figure skater JoJo Starbucks under the giant Christmas tree at The Rink at Rockefeller Center followed by piping hot chocolate.

The next stop for the family is back to the penthouse, where each family member will get comfortable in cashmere pajamas for a private concert of Christmas carols. The family will then have a chance to get some much needed rest in the luxurious layout of the Buckingham's penthouse.

The next morning, the family will travel to FAO Schwartz, an avenue away from the Hotel, for an extravagant, private $50,000 shopping spree. The concierge will introduce the family to their very own personal shopper, who will assist them during their visit. Next, a Toy Soldier will escort the foursome on a guided tour of 50,000 square feet of toys, fun and games. Along the way, they will be able to sample all the games in the Recreation Room, including a ride on the aviation-caliber Motion Simulator, meet The Fairy Princess, who will enchant with tales of her storybook castle and adventures and play with the wacky Colonel, who will introduce them to the menagerie of stuffed animals.

After working up an appetite, the family will be treated to a scrumptious brunch and a tasting of the extraordinary desserts at the FAO Schwartz cafe. To commemorate the day of shopping, the family will receive a photo album capturing the highlights of the visit.

A chauffeured limousine will cart the family, toys and all, back to the hotel to unload and change into something a little more glamorous for a carriage ride through central park and a candlelit dinner at the Bryant Park Grill.

Next, the Rolls Royce will once again whisk the family to their next destination - orchestra seats at The New York State Theater. There, the family will be mesmerized by George Balanchine's The NutcrackerTM. This is the production that is the heart of New York City's year-end holiday season. The once-in-a-lifetime experience of this glittering classic ballet will transport the family to a magical place filled with adorable children, marching toy soldiers, a glowing one-ton Christmas tree that seemingly grows forever, and some of the most fantastic dancing on earth.

After the show, the family will return to the penthouse to find that Santa came early to leave a special Christmas treat - a Christmas in New York Snow Globe to remember the magic of this extraordinary New York City experience.
