Jackson-Shaw Welcomes Sales Director for New Dual-Branded Hotel in North Phoenix

USA, Phoenix, Arizona. November 03, 2025

North Texas-based developer Jackson-Shaw and Tucson-based Holualoa Companies have named Joe Hautem as Director of Sales for their dual-branded AC Hotel by Marriott North Phoenix at Norterra and Element by Westin North Phoenix at Norterra. Located at 25100 North 22nd Lane near the northeast corner of West Happy Valley Road and Norterra Parkway, the property is slated to open in November.

"We're thrilled to welcome Joe to the Norterra team," said General Manager Mark Hayes. "His leadership, experience and passion for hospitality will be key to creating an exceptional guest experience as we prepare to open our doors this November."

With more than 20 years of experience in luxury hospitality sales and brand strategy, Hautem has held leadership roles at The Arizona Grand, The Scott Resort, High Country Motor Lodge, FireSky Resort & Spa and Aloft Phoenix. His expertise includes strategic revenue planning, group and transient sales, and driving market visibility through innovative promotional initiatives.

Sharing a single address, the four-story, dual-branded development will offer a total of 277 high-quality guest rooms. The AC Hotel by Marriott North Phoenix at Norterra will feature 182 rooms with the brand's clean and simple design aesthetic, blending sophisticated European style with a distinct modern feel. Meanwhile, the Element by Westin North Phoenix at Norterra will include 95 rooms, providing the essentials of balanced travel for extended stays without compromising on comfort or design.

"Norterra is a vibrant, fast-growing area in North Phoenix, making it the perfect location for this dual-branded hotel," said Jackson-Shaw Senior Vice President of Hotel Development Joe Blewitt. "With easy access to I-17 and Loop 101, a thriving retail and dining hub at The Shops at Norterra, and close proximity to major economic engines like the TSMC semiconductor plant, we're well positioned to serve both business and leisure travelers in this dynamic market."

The development will offer 8,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, three deluxe suites, and two spacious communal group rooms. Guests will enjoy a state-of-the-art fitness center and a resort-style courtyard featuring a saline pool, heated spa, and event lawn. Spanning three acres, the 160,133-square-foot building is expected to create 60 full-time and 20 part-time jobs.

The hotel is being developed in partnership with Jackson-Shaw and Holualoa Companies. Simmons Bank is providing construction financing, Layton Construction is the general contractor, Cooper Carry is the architect and DiLeonardo is the interior designer. Crescent Hotels & Resorts manages the hotel.
