Freedom Trail Foundation Launches Mp3 Audio Tour

. October 14, 2008

BOSTON, MA, August 14, 2007. The Freedom Trail(R) Foundation launched a new downloadable audio tour of Boston's historic Freedom Trail on July 1st at its website, TheFreedomTrail.org. Previously, the tour was only available for rent on a handheld audio tour device, but new technology now gives visitors another way to walk the Freedom Trail with revolutionary independence. For $15, visitors can download the tour to their iPod or other personal players and walk the Freedom Trail at their own pace.

Guided by the voices of prominent public figures and dynamic historians and commentators, visitors can compose their own journey through history or share it with family and friends. Ambient sounds and music as well as portions of fiery speeches of colonial figures make Boston's rich history come alive.

"This is an innovative and alternative way for visitors to tour the Freedom Trail," says Mimi La Camera, President of the Freedom Trail Foundation. "It gives you the opportunity to create your own experience and take the history of Boston with you. It really is 'freedom' on the Freedom Trail."

The Freedom Trail is 2.5 miles and includes 16 nationally significant historic landmarks in downtown Boston and Charlestown. It is marked by a red line, making it easy to follow throughout the city. The audio file, produced by Antenna Audio, is separated into chapters, giving visitors the freedom to pick which sites to visit, the order, and amount of time to spend on the trail.

"The Freedom Trail walking tour has been one of our most successful outdoor audio tours," said Sarah Dines, Managing Director of Antenna Audio - Americas. "We are delighted to offer a new way for visitors to experience this wonderful tour."
