Legacy of Stars Showcasing Local, National Artists

. October 14, 2008

SHREVEPORT, LA, June 26, 2007. Louisiana Legacy of Stars is a new attraction to the Shreveport-Bossier City area. The attraction is both a theater and a museum of local gospel and country music hall-of-famers.

Legacy is owned and operated by Danny Alan, a Shreveport legend in country and gospel music. Alan has multiple gold and platinum albums for his gospel music. His current single, "Teardrops Building My Stairway to Heaven," is still on the climbing the gospel charts.

Every first Wednesday night of the month Louisiana Legacy of Stars will feature the "Old Tyme Legends," showcasing established national talent in country and gospel music. Admission to this show is free.

On the third Saturday of every month from 8-10 p.m., the showcase will include local musicians who already have CDs. Every Sunday, locals can sign up to play. The Sunday shows will be part of a contest to find the best local country and gospel talent. The winner of the showcase will win a small recording contract worth nearly $5,000. Admission to these shows will be $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, and free for children. Concessions will be available.

"Legacy of Stars will provide a place for all to visit and enjoy the stars of today and tomorrow for years to come," Alan said. "We would like the chance to open a new window of success for your daughter or son to become the next star from Shreveport, Louisiana."

Developing talents has been a long tradition for Shreveport-Bossier City, nicknamed in the 1950s and 60s the magic circle because of the local stars who went on to establish national careers such as Faron Young and Slim Whitman. The Louisiana Hayride, a live radio show broadcast from the Municipal Auditorium, was also a platform for aspiring musicians. Such famous performers to start their careers on the Hayride include Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, Sr., and many more. Stage of Stars Music Museum, inside the Municipal, has captured that era in exhibits and is open for tours.

The Legacy of Stars is located just north of downtown Shreveport at 836 Grimmett Drive.
