Candlewood Suites Opens in Montreal
First midscale extended-stay hotel for downtown Montréal is one of several Candlewood Suites
MAY 24, 2007. Candlewood Suites(R) announces today that its first hotel outside the U.S. is scheduled to open next month in downtown Montr'eal, Quebec, Canada. Formerly a high-rise apartment building, the 147-room Candlewood Suites Montr'eal-Centre Ville is one of several properties the brand expects to develop in Canada over the next few years. In addition to another Candlewood Suites hotel approved for Toronto, Ontario, the brand is also targeting key markets in the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia, along with further development in Ontario and Quebec.
"Demand growth for extended-stay hotels continues to exceed the rate of supply growth in countries outside of the U.S., including Canada," said Gina LaBarre, vice president, Brand Management, Candlewood Suites. "With less than 40 branded extended-stay hotels in Canada, the market has been served to-date by 'all-suite' hotels or corporate apartment hotels, which don't necessarily meet the needs of extended-stay guests seeking 'just-like-home' hotel accommodations," she added. "We are thrilled to be downtown Montr'eal's first midscale extended-stay hotel to offer these amenities."
One of the largest Candlewood Suites properties in the brand's pipeline of 147 hotels, the Montr'eal property is conveniently located on the east side of the city's downtown area, on the border of historic Old Montr'eal and Chinatown. Each guest suite features a full kitchen, large workspace with a comfortable desk chair and overhead lighting, free high-speed Internet access, free local calls, an overstuffed recliner, as well as DVD and CD players.
