Marriott Expands Presence in Shanghai

New JW Marriott and Courtyard Hotels in Hangzhou

WASHINGTON, DC, May 8, 2007. Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) will offer travelers to the greater Shanghai region a choice of accommodations in 15 hotels by the end of 2009 with the opening of the 330-room JW Marriott Hotel Hangzhou and the 330-room Courtyard by Marriott Hangzhou City Center in 2008.

Both hotels are entering Marriott's portfolio under a management agreement with Hangzhou Wulin Real Estate Co., Ltd. They will be part of an 80,000-square-meter complex located in the heart of the city's central business district. The hotels will be connected by a palladium that will house conference space, restaurants and lounges, and other public facilities.

Hangzhou is an attractive business and leisure destination. In addition to Hangzhou's dynamic business environment, the city is a well-known weekend getaway and vacation-home destination for residents in the Greater Shanghai Region. The city features 11 major tourist attractions, including the famous West Lake. Rich in history, culture and natural resources, the city is one of China's top leisure destinations for both domestic and international tourists.

JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts is Marriott's global luxury hotel brand. It is a collection of distinctive, award-winning hotels that offer a unique combination of relaxed elegance, authenticity, luxurious environments and gracious personalized services. Guest rooms in JW Marriott hotels are often larger than those in other hotels in its category and feature baths with separate shower and tub.

For dining and entertainment, the JW Marriott Hotel Hangzhou will offer a variety of options, including a casual, all-day restaurant; a Chinese restaurant with 10 private dining rooms; a specialty restaurant with three private dining rooms; and a lobby lounge and entertainment bar.

Recreational amenities will be highlighted by an indoor swimming pool, a spa with eight treatment rooms and a state-of-the-art fitness center. Other amenities will include a gift shop, a business center, a concierge desk and a spacious executive lounge with a private conference room.

For social events and conferences, the hotel will have 1,650 square meters of function space, including a 950-square-meter ballroom that will be divisible into three sections and eight additional meeting rooms in varying configurations .
