. October 14, 2008

APRIL 30, 2007. The new ReDirect Guide Visa - the planet's first credit card that helps fight climate change with every purchase and offers customers discounts from green businesses is now available.

With the ReDirect Guide Visa, a percentage of every purchase goes to carbon offset programs to help fund renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable development programs around the world through leading US-based nonprofit, Sustainable Travel International (STI).

'This card is one more way we make living green and spending with intention as easy as possible,' states ReDirect Guide Founder and Publisher Michael Johnson.'Through everyday purchases people can reduce their carbon footprints, help fight global warming and support a great nonprofit. With discounts offered to cardholders from participating green businesses, we are also actively encouraging people to choose more earth-friendly and socially responsible goods and services.'

'We are proud to support this exciting new card that directly offsets greenhouse gas emissions affecting global climate change,' states STI Vice-President and Co-founder Peter Krahenbuhl. 'In doing so, we hope to educate consumers about their own choices as they relate to global warming and help them find better options, such as purchasing renewable energy and local, sustainable goods. Using this card further reduces each person's carbon footprint through investments in projects such as wind farms in the U.S. or solar ovens in Africa. These projects eliminate the need for fossil fuel based energy and support community development.'

"Our bank strives to create positive impacts in our communities,' states Lucy Brehm, ShoreBank Pacific vice president of sustainability. 'We're happy to partner with ReDirect Guide on this innovative card that brings together businesses and individuals around sustainability.' Founded in 1997, ShoreBank Pacific is the first FDIC-insured commercial bank in the U.S. commited to sustainable community development.

The ReDirect Guides are comprehensive regional green business directories and resource guides that present consumers with a full spectrum of choices for more healthy and sustainable living. They are currently available online and in print versions in three regions: the Portland and Vancouver metro area of Oregon and Washington, the Greater Salt Lake City and Park City region of Utah, and the Northern Front Range region of Colorado including Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, and the surrounding communities.
