Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc., Provides Update of Hurricanes Rita and Katrina Damage
BILOXI, Mississippi, September 26, 2005. Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc. officials announced today the following update on the effects of Hurricanes Rita and Katrina:
The company has made a preliminary inspection of the Isle-Lake Charles. Both casino vessels appear to have weathered the storm fairly well and the company currently expects both to be fully operational when the facility is reopened. Currently, it appears that the hotels and pavilion area suffered only minimal damage. Isle of Capri has business interruption and property insurance covering the company's operations and assets. Lake Charles team members will continue to work closely with state and local officials to determine exactly when the Isle-Lake Charles will reopen.
In Biloxi, power has been restored to the Isle of Capri hotel that is currently being used to house emergency workers. Several hundred team members have returned to work at the hotel to provide housekeeping, security and limited food service. The casino facility at this location will need to be replaced.
The Isle corporate offices located on Popps Ferry Road in Biloxi reopened two weeks ago with all systems back on-line and corporate team members have returned to work.
"Having traveled to Lake Charles and toured the property it appears that the Isle-Lake Charles survived Hurricane Rita in relatively good condition. Our focus continues to be our team members, in both the Biloxi and Lake Charles area, as we try to confirm the safety of our team members and their families. Working closely with state and local authorities, we look forward to reopening the Isle-Lake Charles as soon as we can safely do so," said president and chief operating officer Tim Hinkley.
The company is requesting that any Isle-Lake Charles team members contact 1-800-843-4753 to let the company know you and your family are safe.
