Costa Rica: Luxury Travelers Linking with Local NGO

. October 14, 2008

MARCH 19, 2008. Travel with Conscience, a luxury travel company has recently partnered with SCLC (Learning and Conservation Center) in Costa Rica, an organization devoted to community development, promotion of sustainable land use, and connecting tourists to local community initiatives. Guests spend a few hours during their vacation learning about the center, helping and donating to various projects. The partnership reflects a refreshing new trend of meaningful travel in the hi-end market offering tourists a more in-depth look at the countries they visit.

Traveling to exotic places around the world has now taken on new meaning --luxury travelers are doing good as they globetrot and are conscious of the footprint they leave behind. As they visit the world?s most famous sites they are stopping in at local NGOs and grassroots projects building wells, bringing books for schools and orphanages, and meeting face to face with children to sponsor for schooling.

Travel with Conscience, based out of Rochester NY, is one of the few companies truly embracing the concept of travel philanthropy, combining luxury vacations with support for social and conservation projects worldwide. Alongside custom-building hi-end trips with special interests such as cooking, biking and eco tours, they will arrange visits with various projects worldwide so that travelers can have authentic and meaningful exchanges with local community projects. All trips are Carbon Offset. Currently they cover travel to: Costa Rica, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, India
