IAHI Approves Aggressive Five-Year Strategic Plan

. October 14, 2008

JUNE 17, 2008. Following a series of meetings worldwide, IAHI, the Owners' Association for IHG, has formally adopted an aggressive strategic plan designed to further expand the association's value to members and help enhance profitability for owners. Eva Ferguson, President of IAHI, made the announcement.

The plan, much of which was based on an extensive membership survey conducted last year, ensures that IAHI continues to meet the needs and expectations of its membership.

The sweeping five-year strategic plan was created to ensure that IAHI maintains and expands its leadership role, unique in the industry, as both an advocate for owners and a partner with IHG in increasing profitability and leveraging brand equity. The plan, as approved by IAHI membership, contains six key provisions:

---| Support Improvement of Owner ROI

---| Support Implementation of IHG Strategic Initiatives

---| Enhance Membership Value and Involvement

---| Improve Education and Talent Development

---| Enhance Global Membership Support

---| Create a First-Class Association

Each of the key elements has a detailed action plan for the first year rollout. At the beginning of each calendar year, additional action plans will be developed and implemented to ensure that the strategic plan is fully actionable with related metrics.

Equally important, IAHI has a five-year succession plan in place. Each chairperson through 2013 has been fully engaged in the process and strongly believes in the objectives. The commitment of both the upcoming chairpersons and the IAHI executive staff ensures that the strategic plan will remain the association's focus.

In addition to worldwide presentations of the plan to IAHI membership, the strategic plan was also presented to the senior leadership of IHG and its Board in London, including company presidents from each region and Andy Cosslett, CEO of IHG. The interest of IHG on such a high level speaks to the association's unique positioning within the hospitality industry. During the meetings, both IAHI and IHG agreed that the strategic vision for the brands and the association were complementary, creating a strong foundation for future growth.

"The strategic plan provides a road map by which IAHI will support our owner members, in improving ROI and in accessing the most relevant information available to ensure their property's success," explains Eva Ferguson, IAHI President.

IAHI

Since being established by Holiday Inn founder Kemmons Wilson over half a century ago, IAHI, the Owners' Association, has performed an invaluable service on behalf of IHG franchisees. The IAHI is a voice for its members, playing a vital role in communicating with IHG management about a variety of issues associated with a franchised hotel operation; working closely together with the IHG to establish and coordinate everything from standards and rules of operation to marketing and communications strategies. Originally the National Association of Holiday Inns before acknowledging its expanding geographic base by becoming the International Association of Holiday Inns in 1959, IAHI is now formally known as: IAHI, the Owners' Association.

IAHI represents the interests of nearly 3,000 owners and operators of IHG hotel brands. What began as an association of owners of just one brand now extends to multi-brand representation, with committees around the world. It is an association that is unlike any other - unique in the hotel industry.
