RIU Opens Fourth Hotel in Jamaica
SEPTEMBER 18, 2008. RIU Hotels & Resorts opened the Riu Montego Bay hotel, its fourth establishment on the Caribbean island of Jamaica.
The new 5-star hotel is the group's first establishment in Montego Bay, the country's most popular tourist destination and second most important city after the capital, Kingston. This brand-new resort joins the two RIU located in Negril (ClubHotel Riu Negril and Riu Tropical Bay) and the hotel in Ocho R'ios (ClubHotel Riu Ocho R'ios).
Riu Hotels & Resorts was the first Spanish hotel group to take an interest in Jamaica, when it opened the Riu Tropical Bay in Negril in March 2001. This Caribbean country is now consolidating its reputation as a major draw for international tourism investments. This new opening makes RIU one of the most important hotel groups operating in the country, with an offer of 2,373 rooms.
Riu Montego Bay features 681 rooms and is located right on a beach with fine white sand just over 2.5 km from Montego Bay International Airport and 4.5 km from the city centre, where visitors will find a wide-ranging, fun-filled leisure offer.
The new hotel will offer the famed All Inclusive by RIU service, a tempting way to revel in the many different options for fine dining at its main restaurant, which serves quality international cuisine, Caribbean specialties in its buffet and live cooking. The hotel will also have three themed eateries: an Italian restaurant, an Asian restaurant and a Grill Steak House.
The popular cocktails on RIU's menu that guests can enjoy in any of the five bars are free of charge, as are drinks in the guestroom mini-bars and dispensers.
Guests can choose to take part in an array of water sports that includes windsurfing, sailing, kayaking and snorkelling at the beach opposite the hotel at no extra charge. There are also tennis courts right on the hotel premises, while a golf course is only two km away.
Riu's luxury comes to Jamaica
After a multimillion remodelling project, RIU's most veteran hotel in Jamaica, the Riu Tropical Bay, will be reopening its doors in December 2008 as the Riu Palace Tropical Bay, the country's first hotel in RIU's most luxurious and sophisticated line, Riu Palace, characterised by top-rate service and majestic architecture.
This project is just one more example of RIU's concerted efforts in this destination, where it is now completing its range of products. Riu has offers perfect for each guest: ClubHotel for families, young people and sports-lovers, Riu Classic for couples and families seeking quality, a peaceful ambiance and exquisite service and finally, the Palace line, oriented to the most select clientele.
