Opodo CEO Steps Down
OCTOBER 31, 2006. Simon Vincent is resigning as Chief Executive Officer at Opodo Group and taking up his new role as President, UK&I Hilton Hotels Corporation early in the New Year.
In the meantime, he will support the process of finding a new CEO to take Opodo through the next stage of its development. During his two years at Opodo, Simon has overseen significant expansion across Europe by way of organic growth and acquisition, such that today Opodo operates in 10 markets across Europe, has gross sales in excess of EUR1bn and is firmly established as a leading Pan European brand in the online travel sector.
Commenting on his departure Philippe Ch'er`eque SVP Corporate Strategy Amadeus said: "we are sorry to see Simon leave and we would like to thank him for his significant contribution to developing the Opodo business across Europe in the last two years. At the same time we wish him well in his new career at Hilton."
Commenting on his decision to leave Opodo Simon Vincent said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Opodo and the decision to leave has been an extremely hard one to take. However, I have been offered a significant career opportunity by one of the world's leading hotel brands that was simply too good to turn down. I would like to thank the Opodo Board and the Opodo team for their support over the past 2 years."
Amadeus has already begun the process for replacing Simon, who will help manage the transition to a new CEO.
