Joie De Vivre Announces Opening of Two New Properties
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 23, 2008. This month, the South of Market (SOMA) district of San Francisco welcomed two distinctive new hotels with the official openings of the Americania Hotel and the Carriage Inn, both located across the street from one another on Seventh Street. This area of the city has seen a recent revival with the openings of several iconic properties, galleries and museums in the last year. Both properties, which were added to the Joie de Vivre collection in October 2006, are perfectly located just blocks from some of San Francisco most famous sights and destinations, including the city's world famous cable cars, Yerba Buena Gardens, the Museum of Modern Art, Moscone Convention Center, the new Contemporary Jewish Museum and world-class shopping.
"Hotel Americania and The Carriage Inn truly represent the artistic creativity and self-expression for which San Francisco is best known," says Chip Conley, founder and CEO of Joie de Vivre Hospitality. "This area of the city is known for its unique mix of high-tech businesses, art galleries and fantastic museums, and we really wanted to pay homage to the actual physical location through the design in each of these one-of-a-kind properties."
Hotel Americania
The 143-room Americania will debut a fun new retro look which includes new quirky and vibrant-colored furniture, linens, artwork and amenities, that pay tribute to America's past. Pieces from favorite board games from years gone by are found scattered throughout the d'ecor and whimsical touches such as Jelly Bellys will be offered upon check-in. The property is perfect for leisure and business travelers alike, given the convenient location and in-room amenities such as complimentary wireless Internet, in-room refrigerators in most rooms, and a wonderful urban oasis-a heated outdoor swimming pool and sundeck to enjoy at the end of the day.
The property offers a variety of room selections, including family suites which are comprised of two rooms that sleep up to five guests. The property provides an on-site fitness center as well as a business center and lounge room for those guests looking to unwind outside of their individual rooms. The game room located off of the hotel lobby is the perfect place to gather and indulge in some good old fashioned fun-whether it be a game of pinball, monopoly or listening to tunes on the Juke Box.
Guests looking for a bite to eat can grab a pencil and order pad, and design their own creation at Custom Burger which provides more than 40 toppings and special sauces to choose from, along with a selection of soups and salads and of course, rings and fries. Custom Lounge, a chic and stylish space is open in the evenings and offers a full bar.
Hotel Americania boasts 775 square feet of meeting space which is ideal for mid-sized meetings and events. The hotel's staff works directly with its clients to develop custom menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is available to assist with any audio visual needs.

The hotel guestrooms have been designed with a witty sensibility, in honor of these local unconventional legends. Each room is named after one of these individuals and reflects a 'bohemian representation' of a classic San Francisco apartment, providing a glimpse of San Francisco's notorious literary and diverse counterculture. The eclectic furnishings are complemented by funky design and chic d'ecor mirroring the city's longtime dedication to artistic creativity and freedom of self-expression.
The quaint property offers the service and amenities of a bed and breakfast combined with the modern amenities of an urban hotel.
