BOSTON, MA, October 8, 2008. A celebratory ribbon cutting and feng shui ceremony marked the hotel's grand opening on October 6, officiated by the Mayor of Boston, the Honorable Thomas M. Menino, and attended by 150 distinguished guests, development partners and Mandarin Oriental executives from around the world.

'We are delighted to open this incomparable new hotel in the celebrated city of Boston,' said General Manager, Susanne Hatje. 'With the commitment of our dedicated colleagues, we look forward to bringing Mandarin Oriental's renowned levels of service and hospitality to this vibrant American city.'

'More than a decade ago, Robin Brown and I made a promise to Mayor Menino and to the people of Boston,' said Stephen R. Weiner, Principal, CWB Boylston, LLC, developers of Mandarin Oriental, Boston. 'We promised that this development would be unlike any that the city had seen. We promised that it would drive economic development in the Back Bay. And we promised that it would bring tremendous excitement to this section of Boylston Street. Today, with the encouragement and help of the community and the mayor, we are thrilled to fulfill that promise.'

Ideally located in the Back Bay on Boylston Street, the new Mandarin Oriental combines classic New England elegance with refined Oriental touches to create one of the most distinctive hospitality experience in the region. With 136 elegantly appointed guestrooms and 12 suites, the property will provide the city's most spacious accommodation amongst Boston hotels. The 16,000-square-foot Spa and Fitness Center, along with 10,000 square feet of stylish function space, the signature restaurant Asana, and the chic M-Bar & Lounge complete the luxurious setting.
