NOVEMBER 10, 2008. Hotel operator Thompson Hotels has become a partner of Cornell's Center for Hospitality Research. Thompson, which owns and operates hotels in New York City, California, Washington, D.C., Toronto, and Seoul, Korea, offers a sophisticated but personal approach to service. Company co-owner Stephen C. Brandman will join the center's advisory board, according to the center's academic director David Sherwyn.

'Thompson Hotels and Stephen Brandman will bring a new and different perspective to our advisory board, ' said Sherwyn, who is an associate professor of law at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration. 'I welcome his ideas and contributions to the center's research agenda.' Advisory board members meet with center research fellows to discuss prospective studies and learn about recent research findings, and they have a seat at center roundtables.

'We are pleased to support the Center for Hospitality Research because of its forward-looking approach to excellence in industry research,' said Brandman. 'Similarly, Thompson Hotels provides excellent guest service and also seeks to bring both the avant garde and timelessness to its personalized service approach.'
