Jodi Doughty Joins Pre-opening Team at Hotel Sorella as DOS&M
NOVEMBER 11, 2008. Jodi Doughty brings local and international sales and marketing experience to her new role as director of sales & marketing for Houston's Hotel Sorella. Slated to debut in July 2009, the 244 room, luxury property with globally influenced design cues, will serve as the flagship for the Sorella brand, an inspired hospitality concept from Houston-based Valencia Group. Hotel Sorella will also act as a key anchor for CityCentre, a pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use development in close proximity to the city's Westchase and Energy Corridor business districts, in addition to the affluent Memorial residential area.
Prior to joining Hotel Sorella's pre-opening team, Doughty was the director of sales & marketing at Hotel ICON, a Four Diamond, 135-room boutique property located in the heart of downtown Houston. From 2004 until 2006, she served as the director of sales & marketing for both the JW Marriott Jakarta and The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta - which launched during her employment - in Indonesia. In this capacity, she was accountable for all direct sales, catering sales, reservation sales, spa sales and public relations efforts for the two brands, leading more than 65 managers and associates. She was also instrumental in hiring and training new employees for The Ritz-Carlton property.
Before that, Doughty was the executive director of the The American Chamber of Commerce of Indonesia, based in Jakarta. During this time, she was responsible for all day-to-day operations of AmCham Indonesia, an organization with over 500 members, including the country's largest US investors. She also conceptualized and premiered a bi-monthly magazine utilized as an informational and recruiting tool.
Doughty, who holds a degree in Communications and began her hospitality career as the executive meetings manager of the Hilton Santa Fe in Sante Fe, NM. Additionally, she has served as the national sales manager for the historic La Fonda in Santa Fe, director of group sales for the landmark Park Plaza Warwick Hotel (now Hotel ZaZa) in Houston and the director of group sales for the St. Regis Hotel Houston, which received Starwood's Group Revenue Hotel of the Year Award during her employment.
