Ring in the New Year in Bradford
BRADFORD, PA, December 18, 2008 - The last night of 2008 will provide plenty of firsts in Bradford.
First Night Bradford, set for Wednesday, Dec. 31, has family-style events for the community as well as visitors to enjoy.
As with the tradition of all First Night celebrations, Bradford's event is a look forward into the New Year rather than a look back. This is an alcohol-free, public festival that features both local and regional talent.
First Night Bradford events are held at more than a dozen locations throughout town. Entertainment includes singers, magicians and animals and the events are open to everyone from children to senior citizens.
In addition to the entertainment, there will be "First Night Firsts" at many locations, including a First Night Arts Show at the Church of the Ascension, First Night Bowl at Byllye Lanes, First Night Skate at Callahan Park Ice Rink, First Night Swim at the YMCA, First Night Movies at the Main Street Movie House and a First Night Hike at the Richard McDowell Trail on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
And while there will be plenty of things to do on the ground, First Night-goers need to make sure to look up with the Light of the Sky midnight ball drop, which will include a countdown to midnight and fireworks by Zambelli International.
Buttons may be purchased for $5 at Tina's Hallmark at 814-362-4974, The Grocery Stretcher at 814-368-9394, JD Novelties at 814-362-3573, Tops Supermarkets at 814-363-9901 and at all Crosby Mini Mart locations.
