FEBRUARY 4, 2009 - U.S. travelers looking to ease their winter blues could soon be soaking up ocean views and relaxing in the Canary Islands at the new Grand Hotel El Mirador, the newest hotel to Iberostar's luxury line, the Grand Collection.

The five-star property, which opened Jan. 1, 2009, is the second Grand Collection property to open in Tenerife, joining the popular Grand Hotel Anthelia. Both properties continue the Iberostar tradition of providing unique vacation experiences, rooted in superior customer service and quality, in the world's most popular vacation destinations.

"Tenerife is evolving to become a more luxurious destination making it the perfect location for the five-star Grand Hotel El Mirador," says John Long, senior vice president of sales & marketing for Iberostar Hotels & Resorts.

Located by the El Duque beach, the Iberostar Grand Hotel El Mirador features 126 luxuriously appointed rooms on six floors. Each room offers expansive views of the Atlantic Ocean and combines modern amenities such as internet and wireless access with classic touches, such as four-poster beds. The Presidential Suite boasts a large terrace and private jacuzzi, and the Royal Suite on the top floor offers panoramic ocean views and a magnificent terrace jacuzzi.

Always looking to go the extra mile, Iberostar also provides a private area for VIP guests, La Balconada. Located on the first floor, La Balconada includes 11 rooms, a sun terrace, a swimming pool, private gardens and 24-hour room service.

Guests can also enjoy fine dining at the five-star buffet restaurant, an 'a la carte restaurant, the La Pergola Beach Club, and an Oriental-themed restaurant. There is also a snack bar for those guests looking for a quick bite.

The resort features table tennis, a gym and squash, all free of charge. Sporting enthusiasts who want to explore the area can make the most of nearby activities including golf, yachting, jet skis, beach volleyball, mountain biking and diving. Guests can also enjoy the hotel's beautiful gardens, with swimming pools, a wellness and spa center, and state of the art meetings facilities, ideal for groups and conference bookings.

Launched in 2007 with the opening of the Iberostar Grand Hotel Para'iso in Mexico's Riviera Maya, The Grand Collection defines a new category of luxury, adults-only, resorts and hotels, offering upscale vacationing that is stylish, and relaxed.
