New TV Ad Campaign for Choice Hotels

Encourages Guests to Enjoy the Savings

. March 02, 2009

MARCH 2, 2009 - The Washington DC office of Arnold Worldwide, a top-20 U.S. advertising agency, today announces its launch of a new Choice Hotels International television advertising campaign, which emphasizes the great value that Choice Hotels brands offer every day.

Three new 30-second television spots remind guests that Choice Hotels offer lots of free amenities for which more expensive hotels charge. The campaign emphasizes that when savvy guests save money by avoiding unnecessary hotel charges, they can afford to enjoy other things during their trip.

"Today's economy has certainly impacted business and leisure travel habits, but our brands offer a great value alternative to upscale hotels that charge for things like breakfast and internet access," said Chris Malone, chief marketing officer, Choice Hotels International. "When guests stay at a Choice Hotels property, they'll get everything they need at an affordable price, so won't have to cut back on all the other things that make travel enjoyable."

The new TV spots open with scenes of Choice Hotels with hotel guests not to be found in their rooms, and then switch to footage of them out enjoying themselves - e.g., dining at a restaurant, taking a carriage ride, or running around an amusement park.

"We created these new spots to emphasize that guests don't need to pay for high-speed Internet access when Comfort Suites offers it for free. Or spend money on coffee and a morning paper when Quality Inn provides it for free. And why pay to take your family out to breakfast when Comfort Inn has hot, fresh waffles...for free?" said Woody Kay, managing partner and chief creative officer for Arnold DC.

With more than 5,800 properties worldwide, Choice Hotels has 10 brands in its portfolio, which all focus on delivering great value. The three spots - which launched nationally on Feb. 5 - feature Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites and Quality Inn respectively. The ads were directed by David Cornell of Form, a Los Angeles-based production company, www.form.tv.
